CASE STUDIES

New Tradition: Our Designs

Where Scandinavian and Japanese design principles meet traditional English craftsmanship. And - at our core - a deep respect for nature.

Based in rural Sussex, our woods, bamboo, earthy hues and soft pastels evoke the beauty and tranquility of our environment, bringing the textures, atmosphere and the life enhancing benefits of the outside into your home. We take a biophilic approach to design. Leaders in sustainability, our 100% natural and environmentally friendly materials and pared back designs avoid waste and excess.

"Pare down to the essence but don't remove the poetry" Leonard Koren

Architectural Kitchens That Don’t Cost The Earth

At CF, sustainability is not an afterthought - it's our guiding principle.

Sustainable design is meaningless unless it is accessible. We offer a simple way to achieve a stylish, environmentally friendly kitchen by adding our handcrafted kitchen doors, drawer fronts, shelves, handles and panels to IKEA Metod and Howdens kitchen cabinets.

Our clients are architects, designers, professional chefs, design conscious homeowners and self-builders with a love for design and the planet.

How it Works

Our Difference

With over 30 years joinery and design experience, we established CF in 2016, aiming to reform the kitchen industry in our own small way.

We make our products to last - there is no sustainability without longevity.

We:

- use premium quality native wood and CO2 negative bamboo materials rather than lower quality MDF/chipboard disguised as wood

- limit production making only a few kitchens to order each month taking you behind the scenes as we do it

- use replenishable natural finishes for beauty, durability, air quality and the planet rather than plastic lacquers. Our products can be maintained and repaired and don't lead to more plastic landfill.

- carefully plan and grain match in a way that largely eliminates waste. The natural beauty and variation of our materials is embraced.

- value community and positive social impact. We are an all female led team, and design and make all together in the same rural workshop. We are disability and neurodiversity champions, ban the box employers, real living wage advocates, and offer flexible and family friendly working.

- we favour timeless classic design, with a less is more philosophy, rather than temporary trends.
