Nature Inspiration and Sustainability
Our studio is on the banks of the River Ouse, and our passion for the natural world is apparent in our pared-back, poetic palette. Our co-founder, Ian - a former landscape painter - advises choosing colours found in the native landscape, as they will always look and feel right. Muted tones such as Seven Sisters, Windover Fog, Dungeness Black, Musk Mallow, and Downlands Path are named after the local landscapes that inspire us.
"Form must be linked with nature." Alvar Aalto
Combining Scandanavian and Japanese design - elements of wood and nature - results in clean lines, raw functionality, rich contrasts and warm elegance.
We created Custom Fronts to offer a truly green alternative to the unsustainable practices of the kitchen industry. Everything we do is sustainable - we don't greenwash. We use sustainable healthy materials, FSC woods and eco paints and oils. We hand make all of our products locally. But more than this we ensure that all of our products are durable and built to last with classic timeless designs which will never go out of style.
We love trees! A proportion of our profit will go to support The Woodland Trust, the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity.
